Times change and what would be considered moderate in 1920 might be considered far right today, buy I would say NO. The only recent candidate that leaned far to the right was Goldwater in 1964 and he got only about 40% of the vote, so succeeding candidates have been moderate when they ran and often leaned to the left if they were elected.
