Yes I believe she did after reading the grapes of wrath she was said to have been shocked with the contents of the book. Because it was written in vernacular language (how people actually speak) she started to think, is this actually happening in California ? Of course it was and she found this out for her self after reading 'The Grapes Of Wrath'. Therefore 'The Grapes Of Wrath' was one of the books which changed the world as my English teacher would say.
