The Special Boat Service (SBS) is a special forces unit of the United Kingdom's Royal Navy that specializes in maritime and amphibious operations. They are trained to conduct missions in a variety of environments, including covert reconnaissance, direct action, counter-terrorism, and sabotage.
The cutoff age to join the Navy is 35.
To join the Navy on active duty, one needs to be younger than 34 years of age. To join the Navy as a reservist, one needs to be younger than 39. The Marine Corps has a slightly different age standard, despite being a part of the Navy. Your husband is too old to join the Marines as an active duty soldier, but is qualified to join the Marine reserves. The United Kingdom's equivalent of Navy SEALs can be considered as the Special Boat Service (SBS). The SBS is a Special Forces unit of the British Royal Navy and its primary role is maritime counter-terrorism, special reconnaissance, and unconventional warfare. Like the Navy SEALs, they undergo rigorous training and are highly capable in both land and maritime operations.
You have to join the military first, then if you show a high aptitude and an interest in joining the special forces you may get given the oppurtunity to try for selection. However, the standard is very high during selection, training and in service. Also, you must make sure that you join the correct branch of the military, ie;(assuming you're either American or British) if you join the Royal Navy/ Royal Marines you could be selected for the SBS, US Navy/ US Marines you could be selected for the Navy SEALS. But in either the British or US Armies you could go for the SAS or DELTA force, respectively.
