An ex wife who never remarried is able to collect social security benefits from an ex husband who has died. This is true even if the ex husband took his own life as long as he paid into the system.
my ex passed away in June and me and our 2 kids get social security each month, but I'm not sure if that is for everyone or not.
I'm 79 yrs old can I continue to collect my social security and my husband should he die?
Yes, if she was married to her previous husband for over ten years and is at least 60 years old (or 50, if disabled).
should my husband pay social security on his employee
You have to have been married 10 yrs. See the Related Link below.
Yes, if you were married for at least 10 yrs. you can draw your deceased ex-husband's social security, but there are some stipulations. If your ex-husband died at or after his full retirement age & you are at full retirement age when he died , then you can collect 100%. Other than that, only a % of his social security can you get. You can call SS & ask them to send you the booklet that explains it.
iam only eleven and sorry i don't know
there is no such thing as a common law marriage so no you cannot.
Social security benefits cannot be drawn from an ex-husband unless the court authorizes a pension plan to be paid to a former spouse. When the spouse got married a second time, the benefits from the first ex-husband should have stopped unless there are minor children involved.
