A map is a flat printing of what is a birds-eye view of the earth. A world map printed on paper shows distortion with some countries being larger than they actually are. Maps of small sections show no distortion. A globe shows the earth without distortion, especially as the globe shows the whole world. The trouble with a globe, is you can't easily carry it in your rucksack!
The Robinson projection is a compromise projection that shows most of the Earth's landmasses and oceans with relatively accurate sizes and shapes, while minimizing distortion. It strikes a balance between preserving spatial relationships and minimizing distortion across the globe.
The cylinder map projection shows a high degree of distortion at the poles. This distortion causes shapes and distances to be exaggerated in polar regions, while the equator remains relatively accurate.
advantages: correctly shows the relative sizes of Earth's landmasses disadvantages: has distortion shows the landmasses near the edges stretched and curved
An interrupted map is a type of map projection that intentionally distorts the shape, size, or distance of certain areas on a map in order to minimize distortion across the entire map. Interrupted maps often feature breaks or empty spaces to achieve a more accurate representation of the Earth's surface than traditional map projections.
I'd say it refers to the Electrocardiogram.
distortion
Distortion is greater with a small scale map because it represents a larger geographic area on a relatively smaller piece of paper, leading to more generalization and less detail. In contrast, a large scale map shows a smaller geographic area with more detail and accuracy, resulting in less distortion.
I'm pretty sure its because almost the entire cast is sick with i believe laryngitis. Also, shows generally do not play between Christmas and new years in respect to the holidays and holiday shows.
Polar Projections
A rectangular representation of Earth that shows accurate directions but distorts sizes and distances is called a Mercator projection map. This distortion occurs because it preserves angles and lines of constant direction, commonly used for navigation over large bodies of water.
One can purchase almost anything at the shop, but almost all pertain to the shows which are aired on BBC. Among these are Doctor Who, Top Gear, and BBC Earth.
