I would like to know the same thing! Google maps used to automatically highlight the chosen route...I am planning a trip to Puerto Rico and the complicated directions don't mean much if I can't generally see what the route looks like.

It depends on the route you take thigh i recommend using Google Maps, you can highlight the route you want to take then it will say an estimated time of the trip. It will also include directions and a map.

if you have a paper map, then using string to trace the route then measuring it, then converting that distance to the known map scale will work. Otherwise google maps does a pretty good job, if you drag the route to the streets you want to use.
