No. Waltzing Matilda is an Australian folksong, nothing more.

A competition was held to find a new national anthem during the 1970s, instigated by then-Prime Minister Edward 'Gough' Whitlam. Three songs were considered: "Advance Australia Fair", "Waltzing Matilda" and "Song of Australia". As early as 1974, a national poll indicated that the preference of most Australian was for "Advance Australia Fair".

In 1977 a new government under Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser held a referendum which included a national plebiscite to choose a new National Anthem. Once again, "Advance Australia Fair" was the most popular, with a vote of 43%, compared to just 28% for "Waltzing Matilda", while "Song of Australia" gained 10% of the vote and 19% were in favour of keeping "God Save the Queen". The final decision was made under the Hawke government in 1984, which made "Advance Australia Fair" the official national anthem.
