The birthrate of mongolian people is not that great. it might be related (in parts) to the fact that it is well seen in Mongolia to be drinking a lot / getting drunk, which can then lead to less effective reproductive rate.
also, being nomadic people (for most of the citizens, at least), there is need for larges spaces to move cattle around.
Another hint could be the way the country is not so hospitable. there are not much natural ressources, life is harsh, and most people are below poverty line.
Mongolia isn't poor because there is so much gold and coal in the grounds, there is a lot to eat and they're civilized. Honestly I would say Mongolia's richer than Canada. I've never seen a Rolls Royce in my life but I saw five in mongolia. Seven out of ten cars were Range rovers and I'm like ''Wow!'' Mongolia is not poor but it's a developing country in fact all the other developig countries should follow what mongolians are doing and they should be following mongolia's steps. The only reason Mongolia is so polluted is because so many people dig their grounds and get gold and they don't do it properly. All the countries have just understood that there is so much gold now all of them wants the gold. The countries that are fighting for Mongolia's riches is everysingle contry but mainly Canadians, Russians, Chinese, and Amrica.
Bhutan is not poor. Bhutan is rich in culture, Natural Resources etc. Bhutan has open doors to the outside world in late 19th century. But right now Bhutan GDP growth is highest in South Asia and 11th in whole world.
