Also called the Battle of Seven Pines, it was unusual in that the main bodies of both sides failed to engage in the battle. The South withdrew leaving McClellan's army intact after suffering about 980 killed and almost 5000 wounded. The North's losses were 790 killed and more than 3500 wounded.

The Battle of Seven Oaks was a decisive victory for the Metis over the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC). It occurred between approximately 60 Metis, led by Cuthbert Grant, and 22 HBC men led by Governor Robert Semple. Almost all of the HBC men were killed. The Metis suffered only two casualties.
