Empire of Persia or The Persians. The original person why replied to this said "Empire of Persia or The Persians", however this is incorrect. Persia is a Greek word, and the indigenous and domestic name of what we know as Persia has always been Iran. It was only until 1935 that Iran was known as Persia, in 1935 Reza Shah, a stern nationalist, changed Persia's name back to Iran as it always was. However, Iranians at the time, like always, were calling their nation Iran. Hard concept to grasp? Think Japan-Nippon, Croatia-Hrvatska, Germany-Deustchland ;)
The ancient name for Iran was Persia; see Persian history.
The previous name of Iran was Persia, not Prussia. The name of the country of Persia was changed to Iran in 1935 when Reza Shah Pahlavi overthrew the Qajjar Kingdom of Persia and created the Iranian Empire.
Persia and Iran are the same country. Iran used to be called Persia, but has changed its name to Iran in modern times. Although, people still call Iran, Persia occasionally. And the story 'Arabian Nights' is the Western World's name for the story 'One Thousand and One Nights' which does take place in Persia (present-day Iran).
