The name WAS AlCAN- for Alaskan-Canadian Highway. Today is known as the AlaskaHighway. Not Oil Can. Runs from Dawson Creek BC to Delta Junction, Alaska. See link below
Highway Patrol - 1955 Oil Lease 2-9 was released on: USA: 3 December 1956
Crude oil is not diesel fuel - it is crude oil, and you really do not want to run this through your engine. Pre-EPA2010 diesels and off-highway diesels are able to run off waste oil if so desired, but this requires pre-heating and straining of the oil (and this is oil which is already processed, not crude oil). Aside from that, such a mixture wouldn't be legal for any on-highway applications.
The oil pressure gauge will fluctuate on a Chevy Tahoe when the vehicle is idling and when the vehicle is driven at highway speed. Idle is usually 30 psi oil pressure or slightly more. At highway speed, the oil pressure should be between 60 psi and 80 psi.
You can use any oil that is for on-highway diesel use. Rotella, Royal Purple, etc. all have diesel engine oil.
The oil light is turning on BECAUSE you put in the lighter weight oil. older engines need the thicker oil.
If there is water in the oil, then the head gasket has failed.
If you use conventional oil and drive normally, (50-50 city highway) then change your oil/filter every 5,000 miles. If you use synthetic oil then change it every 8,000 miles.
oil is emulisifieing, drive the car at the speed limit on highway for 25,30 miles at a time, this will get the oil up to correct operating temp.
ever 3 to 6 thousand miles, depending on the type of driving u do, city or highway.
Need to know which engine you have.
I have a question for you before i can answer yours? is this an off highway motor or on highway motor please respond soon.
Change the oil/filter every 5,000 miles with conventional oil and every 7,500 if you are using synthetic oil. This is assuming you do mixed city/highway driving. If you drive only in the city then change it more often.
