The Gaza Strip de jure belongs to the Palestinian Authority which is the government of the Palestinian State as recognized by the Oslo Accords. Currently the territory is in de facto control of the Militant Hamas Organization which has severed ties with the Palestinian Authority. Gaza, by virtue of this is de facto an independent country, although no country recognizes it.
