Amenhotep III ruled Egypt at the age of 12 because he was next in line for the throne. After his father died, he became the ruler. It is speculated he ruled Egypt from June 1386 to 1349 BC
King Tut's grandfather was Amenhotep iii(a pharoah), married to queen Tiye. Amenhotep iii's son and successor was called Amenhotep v(better known as Akhenaten). Akhenaten's primary wife was queen Nefertiti, but his son and successor, Tutankhamun, was the child of his lesser wife, Kiya. Tutankhamun was married to his half sister Anaksenamun(daughter of Neferiti and Akhenaten. Tutankhamun died childless. His successor was Aye, Nefertit's father, who got the throne by marrying Tutankhamun's widow, Anaksenamun. He also died without an heir, and the throne was claimed by an army official named Horemheb, who married Nefertiti's sister Mutdnodjme.
He was famous for moving the captial from Karnak to Akhetaten and changing their religion to worshiping the Aten the life-giving disc of the sun. His brothers were Tutankamun, and Tuthmosis, and his father was amenhotep III. He was born with the name Amenhotep IV and he changed it, then he changed his wife's name from Nefertiti to Neferneferuaten (fair is the beauty of the aten). When king Tutankamun took the throne he change the religion back to what it was before, and move the capital back to karnak.
