No it's an independent country. Before 1947 India Pakistan and Bangladesh was all together. In 47 India and Pakistan got separated. Bangladesh was a part of Pakistan from 1947 to 1971. It got its independence in 71 from Pakistan after 9 months of liberation war. As a matter of fact, Bangladesh was never a part of India though it's surrounded by India in 3 sides.
When gained independence Pakistan which was earlier a part of India was separated. After sometime Bangladesh was separated from India.
Bangladesh is the current name of East Pakistan. The country was founded in August 1947 after Bengal and India was separated.
When India was partitioned, The eastern wing of Pakistan was Bangladesh. It was very difficult to rule Bangladesh as Pakistanis would have to cross whole India to solve the disputes. Many problems raised among the eastern wing such as The Refugee Problem etc. It was impossible to rule the wing from Pakistan so east Pakistan (Bangladesh) was neglected. As this area wanted to progress and have good economy, they fought Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971 and defeated the western wing. The war broke on March 26, 1971 and the allied forces of Indian army and east Pakistani defeated West Pakistan on December 16, 1971. March 26 is celebrated as independence day of Bangladesh.
There were plenty of reasons. But the separation was mainly triggered by political reasons

Pakistan and Bangladesh were formed for Muslim community .
Bangladesh had a revolution twice. In 1947, Bangladesh which was part of India at the time, got its independence from Britain. Bangladesh then became East Pakistan and what is now Pakistan became West Pakistan. In 1971, East Pakistan got its independence from West Pakistan and became Bangladesh.
