What will happen if Texas secedes?

Their economy will suffer a sudden drastic depression. They will have few military defenses. They will need to set up infrastructure that would be lost by severing ties with the federal government. They will need to devise their own currency. They will need to drastically increase their tax rate to pay for new expenses. Residents of Texas would lose the money the have invested in federal programs such as Social Security. Anyone born in Texas would also lose their American citizenship and require a Texas passport and possibly a visa to enter the United States. Texans living in other states could conceivably be deported back to Texas. People in Texas would no longer be protected by the US Border Patrol and a severely weakened and isolated Texas would be in danger of being overrun by drug cartels from across the border with Mexico. Republicans would have two fewer votes in the Senate, many fewer votes in the Congress. Persons born in Texas would no longer be eligible to be President of the US.
