The 1940's film with Roddy McDowell was filmed at The Remount Ranch, a National Historical Place which is located halfway between Cheyenne and Laramie, Wyoming in the Rocky Mountains. The sequel to My Friend Flicka entitled: Thunderhead - Son of Flicka was also filmed at the ranch as well. There may have been additional scenes that were filmed in Utah ,but I am not aware that any were.
