They are US States.
"Made in the US" means that all parts to a product were manufactured in the United States. "Final assembly in the US" means that parts may have been manufactured outside the country, but it was put together in the U.S.

We have a heck of a lot more than three states! The only two states that are NOT on our mainland are Alaska and Hawai'i. Alaska is separated from the rest of the US by parts of Canada, and Hawai'i is in the Pacific Ocean.
Such situation is pretty normal.
Many of them are made either at Canada or the United States. Other parts are made from OEM companies which reside on Mexico, and some other parts are from the rest of Latin America. One example is the Chevrolet Astra (GM), with a chassis made in Canada, the electric system made in the US, the engine is Brazilian and the seats come from other manufacturing companies located in Mexico.
