What makes the yucatan peninsulan different from the rest of Mexico?

The Baja California Peninsula is located within the area covered by the Sonoran desert; therefore most of the land is arid with hot summers and cool winters. The Yucatan Peninsula, on the other hand, is located between the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea, enjoying constant, warm temperatures and a humid climate, resulting in tropical savanna and tropical rainforests.
