The native language is American English. Some few learn a second language - Spanish, Latin, French and German are taught in some high schools) and some immigrants stlll speak the language they learned as children. Foreign student at the universities no doubt speak their native languages on occasion and Virginia has some foreign students from virtually every country in the world.
