The United Arab Emirates use country code +971.

When calling the UAE from other countries, you must drop the trunk prefix '0' from the beginning of the UAE number. For example, Dubai's area code 04 becomes +971 4.

Area codes are as follows:

  • +971 2: Abu Dhabi
  • +971 3: Al Ain
  • +971 4: Dubai
  • +971 50 or +971 56: Etisalat mobiles(nationwide)
  • +971 52 or +971 55: Du mobiles(nationwide)
  • +971 6: Sharjah, Ajman, and Umm al-Quwain
  • +971 7: Ras Al Khaimah
  • +971 9: Fujairah

(The plus sign means "insert your international access prefix here." From a GSM mobile phone, you can enter the number in full international format, starting with the plus sign. The most common prefix is 00, but North America (USA, Canada, etc.) uses 011, Japan uses 010, Australia uses 0011, and many other countries use different prefixes.)
