Savanna covers most of Zimbabwe, with the country's rainy summers giving generous assistance to the growth of trees on the plains, which is dominated by brachystegia. There is little true forest in Zimbabwe, however. Only near its eastern border with Mozambique and the savanna northwest of Bulawayo can the land be said to be forested. Common species of tree include the mohobohobo (a medium-sized tree with large spadelike leaves) and the thorn tree. '''Baobabs, thorn trees and mopane (pronounced "moh-pah-neh") trees, which look similar to mohobohobo trees, are common in the Zambezi and Limpopo valleys.
