The main language of Israel is Hebrew.

A large portion of Israelis who were born in Israel are the children of parents who came from Another Country, and they heard virtually any language you can name in their home as they grew up.

All street signs and highway directions in Israel are printed in Hebrew, Arabic, and English.

There are about 1 million people who speak Russian, and most people in Israel speak some level of English. English is taught everywhere, and holds a semi-official status. Most street signs and highway instructions in the country are posted in Hebrew, Arabic, and English.

Street/road signs are posted in Hebrew, Arabic, and English.

Radio and TV broadcasts are in Hebrew, Arabic, and English.

The most common household language is Hebrew, followed by Arabic and English.

Newspapers are published in Hebrew, Arabic, and English.

Business is conducted in Hebrew, Arabic, and English.

English, Russian and to some extent Amharic are common but not official, though English is taught as a second language and occurs on many signs (road signs, product labels) together with Hebrew and Arabic, and Russian is also often used in various contexts.

The primary official language in Israel is Hebrew. The majority of the population know some English, and many of the population are fluent in English. Arabic is widely spoken, as are the languages of the countries from which immigrants have come to Israel in the past 70 years; a few of those are Poland, Russia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Estonia, Spain, China, Germany, France, Greece, Egypt, Ethiopia, Turkey, Roumania, Yemen, Iran, Iraq, Portugal, Netherlands, and several others.

Hebrew is most widespread. Arabic and English are also official in some (but not all) contexts. For example, they're there alongside the Hebrew on highway signposts, but not on some store signs and the like.

Russian is spoken pretty widely (about 1/6 of the population or so) but is not official.

Israeli Sign Language (ISL) is the common sign language of the deaf community of Israel. It is spoken by about 10,000 people as a first language, and another 10,000 can speak it as a second language.

Al-Sayyid Bedouin Sign Language is used only in some bedouin areas, but in general, deaf Arab Israelis speak ISL. There are also a few other sign languages, but they are mostly unstudied.

ISL is closely related to German Sign Language and also has some borrowings from American Sign Language. In 1873 in Germany, Marcus Reich, a German Jew, opened a special school for Jewish deaf children.

At the time, it was considered one of the best of its kind, which made it popular with Jewish deaf children from all over the world as well as non-Jews. In 1932 several teachers from this school opened the first school for Jewish deaf children in Jerusalem.

The sign language they used started out as German Sign Language, but with large amounts of Immigration, it took elements from many languages, and today it's considered a German Creole Sign Language; however, it is now too far apart from German Sign Language to be considered a dialect.

In addition to ISL, there is also Hebrew manually coded language used as a tool to teaching deaf children the Hebrew language, and for communication between deaf and hearing people, but this is not natural sign language, and it is not used among the deaf community in Israel.

The Manual Alphabet for ISL fingerspelling is based on the one-handed alphabet used in the United States. It has a few extra handshapes for sounds not found in English, and it has some variations based on the shapes of Hebrew letters.

Palestinians primarily speak PALESTINIAN ARABIC, which is a Levantine dialect that is very similar to Jordanian and Lebanese Arabic dialects. Many can read and write in proper Arabic. Many educated Palestinians can speak some English as their foreign language. Palestinians who have regular interactions with Israelis (either due to the Occupation or because they live in Israel) often speak Hebrew as well.

Palestine is not a state or a country. It's probably best described as a 'region' in the Middle East, comprising parts of Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Israel, and disputed territories. Populated mainly by Muslim Arabs, the predominant language is Arabic.

Modern Israel: Hebrew is the national language.

English and Arabic are also officially recognized (road signs are in these three languages); and Russian is common but is not one of the officially-used languages.

English is taught as a second language from age nine and up, while schooling in general is in Hebrew.

Ancient Israelites: Biblical Hebrew.

Second Temple era: Hebrew was used for Torah-leaning and prayer, while Greek and Aramaic were in widespread daily use.
