Africa is the world's second-largest and second most-populous continent, after Asia. The continent is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, both the Suez Canal and the Red Sea along the Sinai Peninsula to the northeast, the Indian Ocean to the southeast, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. The continent has 54 sovereign states, including Madagascar, various island groups, and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, a member state of the African Union whose statehood is disputed by Morocco. Africa, particularly central eastern Africa, is widely regarded within the scientific community to be the origin of humans. Africa straddles the ehttp://wiki.answers.com/wiki/Equator and encompasses numerous climate areas; it is the only continent to stretch from the northern thttp://wiki.answers.com/wiki/Temperate to southern temperate zones.
Australia is the world's smallest and second least populated continent (after Antarctica). The continent lies between the Pacific Ocean to the east and the Indian Ocean to the west. The country of Australia takes up the full landmass of the continent. Australia is home to many unique flora and fauna. Marsupials and monotremes (mammals that lay eggs) also existed on other continents, but only in Australia-New Guinea did they out-compete the placental mammals and come to dominate. The climate of Australia varies widely, but is predominately desert or semi-arid.

Africa is the origin of the human species and the USA is the origin Rock and Roll and the Pet Rock.
Africa is mainly made up of developing countries, while USA is a developed country.
There are SO many different things between Africa and USA.
Trust me.

Australia is a country as well as a continent. It is run by the Australian government, and has a population of about 23 million. It has vast, dry tracts of land, and is prone to a variety of natural disasters such as bushfires, droughts, floods and cyclones. A huge range of native animals populate the continent, but there are also many introduced species competing with the native wildlife. There is no part of Australia where living creatures are not found - from the hottest desert areas, to the salt beds of Lake Eyre, to the pitted rock waterholes atop Uluru.
Antarctica, on the other hand, is a desolate continent covering 10% of the earth's surface, which is covered with an ice sheet: 98% of it is covered. Precipitation is virtually non existent as the continent is too cold for rain or even snow to fall. No country owns Antarctica, and it has no permanent population. The only people who live there are the scientists and people who support science, who occupy the research stations on the continent. There is volcanic activity there, unlike Australia, and Katabatic winds that blow with some permanence. There are Antarctic blizzards with winds strong enough that no human can stand in the wind. The wildlife there occupies the sea and the very edges of the continent during breeding season, but nothing can live any distance inland.
Africa is a continent and Egypt is a country on the continent of Africa. It's in Africa's north east corner.
Australia is a totally different continent than Asia. Australia is completely in the Southern Hemisphere wiliest Asia is in the northern hemisphere.
