He guides the dead to the underworld where he can weigh the hearts. If the hearts are good the can go into the next life , if the hearts are bad the get eaten by a beast called Ammut. Anubis is the son of Osiris god of the underworld and his wife's twin sister Nephthys goddess of mouring. He is also cousin and half brother of Horus. Anubis is the god of embaling.
