she was one of the personalities of medieval Europe. Born in 1122 she eventually acquired Aquitaine and Poitiers on her fathers death in 1137. She was one of the great female rulers. She married Louis V11 of France at the age of 15 and was considered to have greater intellect that her husband. She was very courageous and jointed her husband on the Second Crusade and wanted to take a large contingent of ladies with her. Her second marriage failed and she organised revolts against her husband, These were not successfull and she was thrown into prison where she remained for some years. Upon her second husbands death she was released from prison, retired to a Religious House and died in 1204
