Israelis love to dress up, when a T-shirt, faded shorts and sandals were appropriate to almost any occasion, are coming to a close. For children's fashion, sportswear, leisure wear, leather, lingerie, swimwear, shoes, tailored suits and haute couture. Beachwear and swimwear were the first Israeli products to make international waves. Ever since lastex fabric was imported into the country in 1949, Israeli bathing suits have conquered the swimwear industry. Casual garments, in a country famed for its informality, have a comfortable yet trendy feel : summer basics such as T-shirts have been transformed into stunning statement-makers inspired by the colours and imagery of the local landscape. And Israel has made a remarkable hit in what used to be considered a backwater of the footwear industry - sandals and summer shoes that are durable, attractive and extremely comfortable.

I'm in Israel right now... so let me tell you!
A common trend for teenage girls seems to be leggings, not just black but different colours, as well as leggings that look similar to jeans. These are usually worn with slogan T-shirts or bright T-shirts, and occasionally vest tops. Of course they also wear shorts, frequently cut-off denim Levi shorts. Shirt dresses and other small dresses also seem to be popular. Skirts do not seem to be as popular with young girls unless being worn for a religious reason (just an observation I have made in the area I live). Especially in Tel Aviv and the bigger, less conservative, cities I see a lot of girls wearing quite heavy make-up, especially lipstick (usually pink), I have seen a fair few girls wear this make-up, even on the beach in the day etc. It seems quite common.
Some other teenage females wear long skirts and long sleeve tops, or tops which at least cover the shoulders.
Many women in the area I live in also wear long skirts, long sleeve tops and often have their hair covered by a scarf tied in a knot at the back.
The teenage guys usually wear flip-flops, shorts, and T-shirts.
Of course you also then have the religious males, who may just add a kippah to the previously mentioned ensemble, ranging to the Orthodox Jews who wear black hats, black long coats, black trousers, white shirts, and usually wear tzitzit as well (white strings associated with prayer which hang at the sides from under the shirt).
In general the fashion in Israel is very laid back, people often look good without looking like they're trying to hard. Most commonly people wear flip flops with everything. However, there are also women who wear high-heels in the day, and generally still tend to look relaxed and not overdressed.
In their everyday life they wear exactly what you would wear.
