When the Mormon Pioneers first arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah they found a desert valley surrounded by nearly impassable mountains. At the time, nobody lived there. There was very little useable water (since the Great Salt Lake is saltier than the ocean) and even fewer trees. It is rumored that a fur trapper was in the area and bet them a thousand dollars that they couldn't get anything to grow there.
Yes. Go to Utah and you'll find tons of Mormons that hunt.

Utah was settled by Mormons.
Mormons founded Salt Lake City, Utah, the capital of Utah. Actually, they founded the whole state of Utah...
One of the major reasons the Mormons moved to Utah is because nobody else wanted to live there. It was a vast empty land with very little water or trees. There were several Native American groups living there at the time, most of which were friendly with the new Mormon settlers.
The Mormons were searching for a place where they could practice their religion in peace and found that place in Utah.

Some say that the Mormons had to denounce polygamy before Utah became a state. This may or may not be true, as the plans to make Utah a state were in action before the Church officially denounced polygamy. Either way, Mormons arrived there in 1847, Utah became a territory in 1850, Mormons ended polygamy in 1890, and Utah became a state in 1896.
Utah is known for its snow, mormons, and beautiful national parks.
