Many things..going as far back as ancient times. Here is a quote from our great President Barack Obama as he toasted Mexico's President Felipe Calderón at a White House dinner:

"We celebrate all that Mexico and its ancient civilizations has given the world throughout history -- advances in architecture and astronomy, mathematics and medicine, and of course, some very good food -- including the "food of the gods" -- chocolate" (Laughter.)

At the very least, all the U.S. Southwest used to belong to Mexico, including California, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico as well as parts of the states of Colorado, Oklahoma, Utah and Wyoming.

Many Mexican nationals have immigrated into the United States and have contributed to the greater good of the American society. For instance, color TV was invented by Guillermo Gonzalez, a Mexican national. Luis Miramontes, another Mexican national, co-invented the first oral contraception pill.

Some words of American English language have been originated in Mexico. Some examples include the once-in-spanish, now-part-of-english zocalo, altiplano, adios, adobe, armada, barracuda, machete, macho, rodeo, siesta, taco, tortilla.

In cuisine terms, Tex-Mex, Arizona, Southern California and New Mexico owe their cuisine styles to Mexico, specially those dishes prepared with maize, avocado, beans and tomato; also those crops were brought from Mexico to the world, not only to the United States.

Nowadays, some 31 million people, or 10% of the American population, can trace their origins to Mexico. Famous Mexican-Americans include Louis C.K., Demi Lovato or Selena Gomez.
