Holyrood House

Founded as an Augustine monastery in 1128, the Palace of Holyrood House has been inhabited by successive kings and queens including Mary Queen of Scots and is Queen Elizabeth the Second's official residence in Scotland. Today the Palace is the setting for State Ceremonies and official entertaining, but is open to visitors throughout the year.
