Depends on what island you are on. There are eight 'main' islands. If you are not Hawaiian, you would want to stay away from predominantly Hawaiian towns because there is hostility towards caucasians. Which is understandable considering Hawaiians had their land stollen from them by America, were beaten and killed for their lands. Diseases brought in from Americans killed off about 75% of Hawaiians and in modern day, caucasians look down on Hawaiians and consider them lazy, fat and ugly while at the same time wanting Hawaiians to give them Hawaiian names and teach them about the Hawaiian culture.
If on oahu, avoid anywhere other than Waikiki and downtown. Some parts of the north shore could be bad for your health as well.
