We often bake "boller", "kanelboller" (cinnamon and sugar) of yeast dough. Old people often bake "rullekaker" = rollcake with mashed strawberry inside. And we also bake skoleboller og wienerbrød :) And "sveler" are also very popular :)

Answer:

There are many Norwegian dishes with some notoriety like Fried cod tongues (friterte torsketunger), Lingonberry cake (tyttebærkake), Lutefisk (dried cod treated with lye), Cod tongue and barley soup (suppe på torsketunger, Barley flour porridge (byggmelsgrøt), Boneless birds (benløse fugler), Cabbage soup (hakkekål), Cauliflower soup (blomkålsuppe), Cloudberry cream (moltekrem), Cured salmon (spekelaks), Deer antlers (hjortetakk), Delicate herring (delikatessesild), Dried mutton ribs (pinnekjøtt), Halibut in Cabbage (kveite i kål), Herringburgers (sildekaker), Picled herring ( Sursild), Lamb and cabbage stew (får i kål, fårikål), Meat cakes (kjøttkaker), Meatballs (kjøttboller), Moose vegetable soup (elgsodd), Mutton Stew (dampet kjøtt), Oat porridge (Havregrynsgrøt), Pickled herring (sursild), Raised Pancakes (sveler), Ratfisk, Roast ribs of mutton (pinnekjøtt), Sheephead (smalahove).

The ones that stand out most for tourists are the Ratfisk (rotting herring), Lutefisk (dried cod treated with lye) and the Sheephead (smalahove).

The first is cod soaked in lye until the flesh is chemically cooked (and there are hundreds of tiny sharp bones loose in the dish) and the second a half sheep's head complete with brain and one eye . Then finally there's Rakfisk - a Norwegian dish usually made from fresh trout or char that is salted, then fermented for two the three months in the juice that comes out of the fish. The rotten fish is eaten raw and washed down with beer and potato liquor to help kill the deadly bacteria - and probably your taste buds.
