The San Joaquin Fault, Mount Shasta (14,000 feet/4,300 meters of elevation), and Sutter Buttes (lava domes) are fascinating geological features of California's Central Valley.
Fresno is the raisin capital of the known world; also boasting nearly 80 parks.
As a native of the San Joaquin Valley I can tell you Shasta is too far north to be considered part of central California. We have two national parks, and several state parks as well as numerous lakes and campgrounds. On the northern end of the valley there is Sacramento the capital of California and on the southern end is Bakersfield. In between there are vast areas of crops, cattle, diaries, and oil rigs. At only 300 miles from San Francisco and Los Angles central California is perfectly positioned for a stop in Fresno if traveling the state. Fresno is the third largest city in the state and boasts of various industries as well as a university . Actually the raisin capital is Kingsburg about 35 miles south of Fresno. This is where the SunMaid raisin plant is located. The area is serviced by an international airport and railroads.
Old Town San Diego State Historic Park, as well as the local Old Town Community, is the site of many California Historical Landmarks.
