What are Suriname's landforms?

Five of Suriname's major landforms are Brokopondo Reservoir [Brokopondomeer], Brownsberg Nature Park, Central Suriname Nature Reserve, Galibi Nature Reserve, and Raleighvallen Nature Reserve.

One, Brokopondo Reservoir is one of the largest reservoir lakes in the world. It was created by constructing a 177 foot [54 meter] tall dam across the Suriname River. Because of the great area of the reservoir, villages had to be abandoned, and around 5,000 people were displaced. The government set up Operation Gwamba to save animals from the soon to be lake bed.

Two, Brownsberg Nature Park is a paradise for birdwatchers. Of over 650 known birds in Suriname, over 250 are found here.

Three, Central Suriname Nature Reserve [CSNR] in west central Suriname was created by Conservation International and the Republic of Suriname in 1998. The Reserve was designed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2000 in recognition of its 6,178 square miles [16,000 square kilometers]of pristine tropical rainforest ecosystem.

Four, Galibi ['Watchman' in Carib] Nature Reserveis a nesting site for endangered sea turtles. Three species regularly nest at Galibi: green [Chelonia mydas], leatherback [Dermichelys coriacea], and olive ridley [Lepidochelys olivacea]. A fourth species, the hawksbill [Eretmochelys imbricata], sporadically nests at Galibi.

Five, Raleighvallen [Raleigh Falls] Nature Reserveis a paradise for bird and monkey watchers. It's also the home of the rare and spectacular cock of the rock [Rupicola rupicola]. The Voltzberg, a granite sugarloaf mountain, rises 150 meters [375 feet] above the Reserve's forest canopy.
