Each map features a legend or key, which shows all of the symbols and explains them. The legend will usually include railroads, boundaries, rivers, or roads. The legend indicates these symbols with squares, dots or any kind of shape. It will also have a COLOR block to represent the different elevations. Scales on the other hand are pretty straight forward, scales on a map show the distance between two point.
