QUESTION: (answer below) I have a question about a book I have. The cover appears to be hand painted leather with flowers and titled Whittiers Poems. The title on the inside is POEMS
by John Greenleaf Whittier. It has a light brown leather cover. It does not appear to missing any pages. The publisher is New York Hurst & Company. There does not seem to be a copy-write date or publishing date other than the dates at the end of each poem. The first Poem is titled "Proem" followed by "Mogg Megone". I can list more of the table of contents if needed. The book is approximately 4 X 6 inches and contains 318 pages. Would you happen to know approximately when this book was published. END!!
ANSWER
I am responding about this ? and giving a little detail for an answer. If you look up New York Hurst and Co. you will find a little more information on this sized book. I think it is from around the early part of the 1900's. They amde a lucile issue book in that same size. it was for novelty. Gift purposes and to put on Parlor tables. I have the same sized book about 4 1/4" by 6" with no copyright date, and titles the Scarlet Letter. I can't seem to find out much more than this, but it would be nice to know it's worth.
