How was the legend of William Tell created?

Speculation:If you ask me it is a variation on the story in The Bible called the Sacrifice of Abraham ( does not refer to Lincoln assassination as I thought as a kid) main difference is in William Tell the antagonist is the Town Bully, in the Sacrifice of Abraham it is God himself who tests Abraham. The actual sacrifice never happens ( in the BIble tale) it is not one of the more popular sunday-school stories! Intellectual Research:Actually, many historians believe that although much of the story appears embelished or glamorized, the story of Tell is based on a factual person and events. Contrary to previous falderal, it is based on what actually happened during the formation of the Old Swiss Confederacy, circa the 14th century AD.

As far as being created, it happened and then was told over and over until written down by Hans Schreiber in 1475 in his Weisses Buch von Sarnen.
