the are, unfortunately, unavoidable. any system of measurement will come short in measuring actual reality. if you need to weigh your gasoline for a molotov coctail and you can only measure gallons (and not fractions thereof) you would not know how much fuel you were using. you would see only an unknown portion of a gallon without actuall knowing, numerically, how much was in it.
