There are two Western Europes.

The fist form is a form that is not so generally thought of when one is referring to Western Europe. This region is one of the four regions defined by the United Nations. It includes the countries of Andorra, Monaco, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Austria. This would be a total of 10 countries.

The second and most used form of Western Europe is the one you would get by splitting Europe in east and west, so basically this area accounts for half of Europe. The countries included in this region include all countries listed above in addition to Iceland, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Spain, Malta, Italy, Vatican City, San Marino, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Greece. This would be a total of 24 countries.
