I've heard it takes ten days for the eggs to hatch.
* Growth and Development: The females lay eggs on ripe or rotting fruit. After one day the eggs hatch into larvae. Offspring remain in larval state for three days transform to pupae, and in three more days, become mature fruit flies. - http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/evolution/sex/mating/gallery.html
Each female lays from 100 to 200 eggs in the garbage or manure on which the white larvae feed. With favorable temperatures, one generation or more per month may be produced.
If i remember correctly the gestation of the egg takes about 24 hours, then the larvae (maggots) eat for four days to store nutrients for metamorphosis (turning into the fly)
Then I think it takes four days for them to turn into the fly but after that a few hours is enough for the female to be ready to reproduce (if the maggot turned into a female one)
Female elephants social life revolves around breeding and raising of calves. A female will usually be sexually mature at around the age of thirteen.
After a gestation period of twenty-two-month, the mother gives birth to a calf that weighs about 115 kg and stands over 75 cm tall
The new born is usually the center of attention for the whole herd. The baby is born nearly blind and at first relies almost completely on its trunk to discover the world around it. The whole herd helps defend and raise the young one.
Flies have a gestation period of only 24 hours.
The gestation period of a fly larvae (maggots) is 24 hours. The egg then hatches and the larva must feed for 3 days to prepare for the metamorphosis into an adult fly.
Shortest: American Opossum or Virginian Opossum - 8 days Longest: Asiatic Elephant - 760 days *These are mammals, the longest remains the same but the shortest would be the house fly with a gestation period of 24 hours.
The gestation period for mallard eggs is typically around 28 days, from the day the female starts incubating them in the nest until they are ready to hatch. It is important for the female mallard to consistently incubate the eggs during this time to ensure successful hatching.
Sorry, these popular house plants do not fly.
A Lessers house fly (one type of housefly) is 5 to 6 milliliters long.
a house fly can stay under water for a lot hours if the water is warm if the water is hot they may survire about one hour
In very rare cases would a German cockroach be able to fly. Not for a long time too! But a common misconception is that they can't fly and period, but again sometimes they do.
The hummingbird's gestation period, or the length of time for the egg to hatch, ranges from two to three weeks (about 13-22 days), depending on a variety of conditions. Clutch size is one to three eggs, and most typically is two. The young develop extremely quickly and will start to fly in 18 to 30 days.
