∙ 9y agoBy and large, the Mediterranean Coast of Southwest Asia is much more liberal than other parts of Southwest Asia. It is also populated by a number Non-Muslim populations, such as Jews, Christians of various stripes (Maronites, Melkites, Greek Orthodox, Armenians, Messianic Jews, etc.), Alawites, and Druze. The two are actually interrelated. The religious minorities are usually less conservative than the Muslims are, leading to these areas of mixed ethnicity to general be more liberal.
