Slobodan Milosevic was the President of Yugoslavia and Federal Serbia. Milosevic was known as a totalitarian leader, exercising strict control over speech and restricting civil rights within Serbia. He was accused of contributing to the Yugoslavian wars of the 1990s, specifically against Croatia, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Slovenia. He was also accused of engaging in ethnic cleansing against Croats and Bosnians. He was arrested and held by the International Criminal Court. While being tried for war crimes, Milosevic died under mysterious circumstances.

Slobadan Milosevic was the president of Serbia. He was charged by the World Court for crimes against humanity which included war crimes and genocide during wars in Bosnia, Kosovo, and Croatia. The International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia charged him with war crimes. During the trial, which lasted five years, Milosevic mounted his own defense. He died of a heart attack in his cell.

The war in Serbia pushed 2.7 million refugees into the surrounding countries and it killed an estimated 25,000-329,000 people. This war resulted from the breakup of Yugoslavia which led to the "ethnic cleansing" by the Serbians on the Bosniaks (Muslims that lived in Bosnia) and the Croats.
