Treeless plains in northern Europe are known as tundra. These regions have a cold climate and low temperatures, limiting tree growth. Tundra landscapes are characterized by grasses, mosses, and low-growing shrubs, as well as permafrost.
The tundra climate in Europe is mainly found in the northernmost regions, such as the northern parts of Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden, Finland) and the Kola Peninsula in Russia. These regions experience long, cold winters and short, cool summers with limited vegetation due to the cold temperatures and permafrost.
Russia has three main climate zones: Continental climate, subarctic climate, and tundra climate. Europe has four main climate zones: Oceanic climate, Mediterranean climate, subarctic climate, and continental climate. Continental climate has a large contrast between seasons, winter being very cold while summer being very hot. This climate is found in Eastern Europe and basically all of European Russia minus the Arctic Coast. Subarctic climate is one of the coldest climates in the world. Winters are very cold and long while summers are short and either cool or mild. This climate is found in Northern Europe and all of Northern Russia. Tundra climate is the coldest climate in the world. Winter is basically all year long, as typically only one month has temperatures warm enough to melt snow. Tundra is also occupied with permafrost, which is basically a layer of thick ice growing beneath the ground, making it impossible for most plants to grow. Tundra is found along the Arctic Coast in Europe and Russia. Oceanic climate is a mild climate. Winter is cold to mild while summers are mild to warm. There is also an absence of a dry season. This climate is found in Western Europe. Mediterranean climate is a mild to warm climate. Winters are mild while summers are warm to hot. This climate is found along the Mediterranean Coast.
Tundra is a northern climate where there are few trees and mostly just hardy grasses. It has no relation to the economy.

Northern-Northern Europe is tundra and extremely cold. Not many people choose to live in this extreme type of weather.
The climate and vegetation in Europe has ranged from several ice ages, and tundra like vegetation; to our present very variable climate and considerable variety in vegetation.
Arctic tundra can be found in northern parts of Asia, Europe and North America (Alaska).
Tundra regions are typically found in the high latitudes of the Arctic and Antarctic regions. Specifically, tundra can be found in northern Canada, Alaska, northern Europe, Siberia, and parts of Antarctica. These regions are characterized by a cold climate, low vegetation, and permafrost.
Tundra type climate. There are no mountains to prevent the arctic air currents from flowing down over the land.
