What first nations from New Zealand and Australia did James Cook come into contact with?

New Zealand and Australia are both nations in their own right, and do not contain any other nations within them. When James Cook first came into contact with New Zealand and Australia in 1769 and 1770 respectively, New Zealand was inhabited by Maori, and Australia by the indigenous Aborigines. They were not, of course, nations back then.

Which was discovered first Australia or New Zealand?

No records exist regarding when Australia was first "discovered" by its indigenous people, whilst records concerning the Polynesians and Maori of New Zealand are not necessarily based on fact. It is likely, however, that Aborigines were in Australia long before any races were on New Zealand. Regarding discovery by Europeans explorers, to our knowledge, the Australian continent was discovered by Europeans, specifically Portuguese explorers, before New Zealand.

How did aboriginals catch emus?

Aborigines did not catch kakapo. Kakapo have only ever lived in New Zealand. "Aborigines" refers to the original native people of many countries, such as Australia and Canada, but not to the Maori of New Zealand. While the Maori of New Zealand are considered the First Nations peoples for that country, they are relative "newcomers" to the islands, and generally not referred to as aboriginal.

What is different about Australia and New Zealand?

i lived in new zealand for 12 years and then moved to Australia. the Australian dollar is worth more than the new zealand dollar. new zealand has much more hills/ mountains because it is on a faultline (earthquakes) and Australia is not. Julia gillard is Australia's first female prime minister. new zealand had a female prime minister, Helen clark, years ago. New zealand is about the length of the Northern Territory in Australia. Australia is enormous compared to new zealand new zealand only have regions, not states, as Australia do in new zealand they call FLIP FLOPS or THONGS jandles. there are alot of slang differences in Australia and new zealand in new zealand they say burger king. in Australia it is hungry jacks.
