US influence is everywhere, even in Europe, so you will see American styles and music and movies in Spain. The main differences between Spanish culture and American culture are the schedules, infrastructure preferences, and eating habits.
Spaniards will go to work or school in the morning and work until mid-day (mediodia), around 1 or 2 o'clock. Then they will go home for 2 or 3 hours and have lunch and relax with the family. It is considered very uneducated and rude to even call during this time period. It is a time that Spaniards reserve to be left alone. Everything is closed. Don't go buy groceries during mediodia. You wont find any. Then they return to work or school. They will then be out and about much later than you see Americans walking the street at night.
While Americans like to live in suburbs and have their space. Spaniards would much prefer to live in a small apartment, in a large building, simply so that they can be close to the city center, be within walking distance of the bakery (they love bread), and just be around people and be in the middle of it all.
Spaniards eat a small breakfast in the morning. Their main meal is during mediodia. Then they will eat a small dinner later, around 9 or 10 pm. They will eat a fresh baked bar of bread (similar in appearance to french bread, just slightly skinnier) every day. There is a spanish saying that if something is taking forever, it is longer than a day without bread. They also don't really eat dessert like Americans do. A very typical "dessert" in Spain would be that after the meal, everyone relaxes and talks while eating a fresh peice of fruit.
