Florida does suspend or revoke the licenses of people convicted of certain crimes, but in most cases it's not permanent (the suspension or revocation lasts for a specific period of time, not the rest of your life) and it's not a simple matter of whether it's a felony or not. For example, theft and shoplifting carry a penalty (in addition to other criminal and civil penalties) of a 6-12 month suspension of license; this is at the discretion of the court for the first offense and mandatory for subsequent offenses, while stealing gasoline (specifically) carries a mandatory 12 month suspension even for the first offense. Some drunk driving violations are the exception; your license can be permanently revoked if, for example, you are involved in a fatal accident and it's your second or subsequent DUI offense.
