1911 model pistols , by all manufactures, used serial numbers to date the manufacture date of their pistols. therefore, to obtain the date of any 1911 pistol you have to furnish a serial number.

should not have 2 sets of serial numbers. the only serial number should be located on the right side of the frame just above trigger. there is no serial number on the slide unless someone put a number on the slide.....................
