Ford Motor Company hires individual companies to make very specific parts and components for their vehicles. I used to work for a Ford dealership in Austin, TX; and I was amazed at looking at each individual part box to see that these parts were made both in the US and throughout the world. From what I have seen first hand, Ford contracts with companies to make each individual part for them with the Ford brand stamped on the part. Ford does its very own quality control for each company that makes their parts. Sometimes Ford itself makes their own parts. It is probably a 50/50, but Ford parts get made in Japan, USA, Mexico are some of the main countries that crank out these parts. Many parts that are made in Japan are electronic modules and controls. Many parts that are made in the US and Mexico are body and collision parts.
Japan owns the Mazda company. Mazda parts are however, not all made in Japan. Ford used to own Mazda, but recently dropped them. They provided certain engines and parts for Mazda. Presently, most parts for Mazdas are made in Japan, but like a lot of other Japanese car companies, some parts are manufactured or assembled in America or Canada.
No Ford never touched this car in design, manufacture or service in any of their facilities. Mazda made it and all replacement partes in Japan for the entire run from start to finish.
