The oldest state in the Southern United States, Virginia was formed in 1607 when Captain John Smith Landed in Jamestown along with Cavaliers and some Convicts. Virginia has relatively mild climate, with much heat and humdity from June through October, and winters from late December through late February. The blue ridge mountains form on Virginia's western flank creating the Shenandoah Valley which runs from Winchester to Roanoke. Virginia is divided into main regions: Northern, Shenandoah Valley, Southwest, Southside, Central, and Hampton Roads. Some of Virginia's crops include cotton, tobacco, hemp, corn, soy beans, and hay. Virginia's main industry is farming.
