She made the American Girl because she wants to make girls have fun, but still at the same time learn with their educational Historic Characters, Such as: Samantha. This character's book takes place in 1914. This book teaches girls about the struggle with familys during the battle between Germany, and the Dutch. And Addy, who takes place during slavery. Her, her mother, her baby sister, her father, and her older brother struggle as they make their way through the pain. But Addy keeps her head up no matter what. And the whole point of the dolls is for their favorite Girl Of The Years, and Historic Characters come to life. I have 2 American Girl dolls, they both are the Just Like You dolls. The Just Like You ( JLY ) dolls are for girls who want to atleast have their dolls look like them, instead of having the Historic Characters, and Girl Of The Year dolls.

No, I don't think so...she created the Just Like You and Bitty Twin dolls, but that's technically American Girl.NOTE: She didn't invent the Girl Of The Year dolls.
Pleasant T. Rowland, the founder of American Girl, is still alive.
Yes.
In 1983 educator, writer, and entrepreneur Pleasant T. Rowland was looking for dolls to give her nieces for Christmas. She found baby dolls (which emphasize mothering) and teenage or adult dolls (which emphasize future aspirations of an older age), but no dolls that realistically represented girls in an eight-to-twelve age range. This experience was coupled with a visit to Colonial Williamsburg that demonstrated the value of making history accessible, and inspired Rowland to create Pleasant Company's American Girl line of historical dolls and books. -Wikipedia Article "American Girl"

The American girl doll is a PLEASANT COMPANY in Dolls and Bears.

=just to make more money I guess==Pleasant T. Rowland started Pleasant Company in 1986 with Molly, Kirsten, and Samantha, preteens that lived in different time periods. She started the company to not only teach little girls about the past, but to also allow the girls to have good-quality dolls that they could use their imaginations to play with. Rowland also noticed that the only dolls available to play with were the adult Barbie (that was not appropriate for young girls to play with) and baby dolls...so another reason to make American Girl Dolls...But the company was then bought by Mattel (Ironically the same people that produce Barbie) and it's now a money making business that promotes cheaply made dolls that are "Just Like You." i also love American girl. I personally think that American Girl is genius because little girls listen to these dolls and it teaches them history:)=
