Um, your question may have different answers but if you mean a written letter, then the body is deemed to be the middle part of the letter, in between the beginning and the end greetings (i.e. dear and from). the body is the main part of the letter as it usually states the purpose of the letter or has the information which makes the letter of any importance to the receiver of the letter. The body always has the most words within the letter, unless the letter is conceived of one word while the greeting is of two (hello and name).
